City Snapshot on Hunger and Homelessness in America
The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) has released its annual Report on Hunger and Homelessness. This year, the Homelessness Research Institute at the Alliance collaborated with the USCM and found that many mayors are challenged by the lack of resources when responding to homelessness.
“The one thing we found to be almost universally true among the surveyed cities was that the lack of affordable housing prevented them from solving the problem of homelessness,” said Nan Roman, President and CEO of the Alliance. “While the report shows that many of the cities are able to reduce homelessness, the national lack of affordable housing is likely to have a chilling effect on their efforts over the coming years.”
