Health Insurance Options Available for Former Foster Youth – Maine Marketplace Enrollment

Many former foster youth may qualify for affordable health insurance either through Medicaid (MaineCare) or the Maine Marketplace, depending on their unique circumstances. We ask that you partner with us to spread the word about the Affordable Care Act during the Open Enrollment period from November 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016.

You can play a vital role in sharing information about local resources that can help young people find affordable health coverage and how to apply for it. In Maine, Western Maine Community Action and their network of in-person assisters can provide free help and answer questions and provide one-to-one assistance to young adults that may be served by your program.  Please share the attached flyer with your program staff and help us to spread the word that affordable health insurance options are available for former foster youth, ages 18 – 26.

We greatly appreciate your help in reaching out to your former foster youth about available health insurance options during this Open Enrollment period. Please let me know if I may provide you with any assistance in connecting with local resources to answer any questions about different health coverage options.

Finally, thank you for your ongoing commitment to serving the needs of America’s vulnerable young adults and helping them to have a pathway to success and a healthy future.

Best regards,

Linda
