Dear Maine Continuum of Care Members, Statewide Homeless Council Members and all of our Community Allies,
As you may know, each year HUD funding helps to sustain a spectrum of services to address homelessness including permanent supportive housing, shelter, and outreach services. This year, we predict that the new Administration is making some significant changes. We anticipate a new Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from HUD in the coming weeks (this October).
While the full details will be shared with the publication of the NOFO, HUD is referencing new funding priorities for Transitional Housing, employment support services, and recovery focused programs that might allow for new organizations to apply.
If you are part of a nonprofit organization that is not currently funded through the HUD CoC process, then this may the year to consider applying. However, we also wish you to be aware that we are concerned that HUD will give a very short deadline for the submission of applications – perhaps one week or two. This may be a heavy lift for new organizations, but we generally wanted to send out this notice in case there was interest.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me or the CoC Executive Director, Dean Klein (), or Scott Tibbitts, CoC Coordinator ( ).
Sincerely,
Rich Hooks Wayman, Chair SHC
